Shell scripts.

Argument passing. Quoting: double, where dollar expansion is done; single, where the text is as-is; and back quotes, where command expansion is done.

"$*" vs "$@"; $1, $2, ....

Bourne shell for loops. case/esac constructs. of the arglist. mkdir and its -p option argument. scp which we will use for our ``bkup'' example script. find for doing recursive copies, as well as scp's -pr preserve and recursive options.
