We took time out to talk about the TZ environment variable.
(By convention all envariables are all-caps.)
On Solaris machines, the path to the timezone data files is
/usr/share/lib/zoneinfo.
I mentioned time synchronization. This is done using WWV, GPS, etc.
See the commands ntpq, ntpdate. On ieng9,
these commands are installed in /software/common/ntp/bin/.
